The city of Hyderabad is known for its rich cultural and historical heritage. To enhance the tourism experience and give visitors a unique way to explore the city, the state government has launched three new electric double decker buses. These buses will be used primarily for the upcoming Formula E-prix race and later for a heritage circuit, showcasing the city’s landmarks and streets.
Double decker buses have a long history in Hyderabad, with conventional double decker buses operating in the city until 2003. A request from a citizen on Twitter prompted the Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister to revisit the idea of bringing back double decker buses. In response, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) ordered six electric double decker buses, with three of them being delivered and launched recently.
Each of these buses is equipped with modern amenities and has a seating capacity of 65 passengers and a driver. They are completely electric and can travel up to 150 km on a single charge, with a charging time of 2 to 2.5 hours. These buses are not only convenient and eco-friendly, but also offer a unique way to see the city and immerse oneself in its rich history and culture. The cost per bus is Rs.2.16 crore and comes with an AMC of seven years.
So, if you’re looking for a memorable and unique way to experience Hyderabad, be sure to take a ride on one of the new electric double decker buses.
